Storytelling Photography Workshop

Learn how to plan and shoot cool and dramatic storytelling photographies with simple means. Hosted by Ketil Born at Strykejernet Art School

Want to learn how to tell stories through photography? Attend this course with the famous storyteller photographer Ketil Born, and learn the secrets of how you can easily tell your story with simple techniques. You will get a basic knowledge of the genre Storytelling Photography. Ketil Born will reveal methods that artists like Gregory Crewdson and Edward Hopper make use of, and teach you how to get this without a million in budget. Learn how to set up a scene, work with lighting both inside and outside the studio, and edit your photos in Photoshop. Find your favorite location, your story, and start creating!

A basic knowledge in Photoshop will be recommended, and the course requires your own photo equipment. Macbook with Photoshop, as well as flash equipment and facilities are made available to the course participants. You will be guided from start to finish by skilled photographers.

The course will end with a group exhibition where all participants will present their picture at Strykejernet Art School. This is a unique opportunity for guidance from start to finish in colab with established photo artists.

Ketil Born is an internationally renowned photographer who is best known for his emotional low-key portraits. Since Born's first solo exhibition in 1988, he´s had a number of exhibitions, the latest was Earth Shapes at Hovedøya Oslo, summer 2018. Elise Adamsrød will be assisting the workshop. She is an educated photo artist at Oslo Fotokunstskole, and has several years of experience as a teacher in media and arts. She is also a skilled multimedia artist and currently writing the photo book Rå.
